The Ostkreuz Campus will be even more pedestrian and bike friendly

More safety in traffic for pedestrians and cyclists as well as less noise and cleaner air shall now be introduced to the Ostkreuz Campus in one fell swoop. How so? Speed limits on the local traffic routes shall reduce from 50 km/h to 30 km/h. Borough mayor, Monika Herrman, recently guaranteed this in the traffic committee. The 30 limit is already in place on approximately 80 per cent of Berlin’s streets. Empirical studies, for example one by the OECD International Traffic Forum in March 2018, show that 30 km/h limits have a positive effect on the quality of life in a neighbourhood. This step fits the general plan for the users of the Ostkreuz Campus, especially regarding sustainability and work atmosphere. The basements of the PANDION ZINC and PANDION POLLUX office buildings will therefore house many parking places for bicycles.
