Ostkreuz Campus in the middle of the green metropolitan oasis
Ducks, geese, chickens, goats, sheep, rabbits, pheasants, a pony, bees and exotic small birds and water turtles. Plus herbs, vine plants, roses and wild flowers. You would expect all this in the countryside, but not in the middle of the city. And yet this is exactly what is happening directly opposite the future office ensembles at the Ostkreuz Campus. We are talking here about the Friedrichshain Gardening School, one of 15 training locations for vocational students in vocational preparation courses in Berlin. The 1.5-hectare green oasis is especially beautiful in spring, when everything blossoms and sprouts. The green learning space is open to the public and has been offering children and young people eventful days for over 70 years, as well as other interested parties – for example, during their lunch break – a relaxing time out in nature.
